The Builders

While the Marlboro Minor system celebrated it’s first season in 1931-32, the hockey club itself was born in 1902. Over the years the club was built on the backs of its numerous dedicated volunteers, and in this section we will highlight some of the more prominent contributions.

Harold Ballard - True Blue...and White!

Harold BallardMention the name Harold Ballard to most Canadian hockey fans and their first memories of the legendary sportsman are of his flamboyant and controversial days as President of the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Very few fans however are aware of his true sporting background, his devotion to charitable causes, and his long association with the Marlboro Hockey Club.

Growing up in downtown Toronto young Harold participated in many sports, often as a member of teams run out of the old St. Mary’s Church on Spadina Avenue.

THE SELKES – "A MARLBORO FAMILY"

Father Frank, son Frank Jr., grandson Gary and most recently great grandson Frank. Four generations from one family involved in Canada’s most storied minor hockey club. Their story is one of “Canadiana” lore that melds into the very fiber of our long hockey heritage.

A recent interview with Frank Selke Jr. has opened the door into the hockey history of the famous family, but even more importantly, takes us back into the very early years of the Marlboro Hockey Club.

Marlboros Sweep GTHL Standings - 1st Overall once again

For the 9th year in a row the Marlboro Organization has finished 1st Overall in the AAA Division of the GTHL. This is a tribute to the players, coaches and parents that continue to support our program.
